Shades

Regardless of décor, from Victorian to Art Deco to Contemporary, the simplicity of fabric shades allows them to be paired with many different treatment designs while their classic lines allow them to stand on their own.  A fabric shade is often the best choice for an oddly shaped window, such as an oval or half-round.  In a child’s room a fabric shade can. Fabric shades used in kitchen windows will retain fewer cooking odors than traditional curtains.

Roman Shades

:The classic Roman Shade needs minimal fabric and is appropriate in all decorating schemes.  When fully lowered, the shade is flat; when raised, horizontal pleats stack one above another.  These pleats can be straight, just slightly bowed, or softly draped.

Balloon Shade

When these shades are installed to be functional, they provide the fullness of a drapery and, depending on fabric choice, either the complete or semi-privacy of a blind.  When stationary, either alone or as an under-treatment, they are an elegant decoration for the top of a window.  They are traditionally paired with a shirred top, but take on a more tailored look when used with a box pleat top.

Austrian shade

For centuries, Austrian shades, with their opulently shirred fabric scallops, have been a popular choice.  While most often made from sheer fabrics, they can be just as striking made from cotton prints and other medium weight fabrics, especially when used as a valance.  As with other shades, they can be effectively used alone or in combination with other elements.

Inside Or Outside Mount

You will need approximately 1 1/2" minimum unobstructed window depth for an inside mount. Inside mounts can provide a clean, tailored look - especially on the Flat Roman, Structured Flat Roman, and Soft Roman Shades.

An outside mount is recommended if your window is out-of-square, if an unattractive molding needs to be hidden, or if you wish to make a small window appear larger.  A shade mounted to the ceiling can create the illusion of a higher ceiling.
